Research
The deltex protein, found in metazoa (animals) ranging from Drosophila melanogaster to humans, is a cytosolic effector of the Notch signal transduction pathway.  This pathway is evolutionarily conserved and controls cell fate determination in a broad distribution of tissues during metazoan development.  While it is known that deltex binds to the intercellular domain of the Notch receptor, neither the structural features of this interaction nor the function of deltex within the pathway are known.  I am working to perform both structural and functional studies of deltex and its interaction with Notch.
